Come on Boris, where’s the money!!!
I’m sure many of us have repeatedly written to our MPs asking for more drug research money. As usual, my most recent email last month was acknowledged but no promises were made and I somewhat doubt whether any new money will be found.
I’m sceptical that any additional existing drugs can be repurposed which means the PMs proposal of taking new antivirals like aspirins is going to be very expensive (unless the drugs are inexpensive to make and there are no patent royalties).
The new Pfizer drug candidate looks interesting as it’s covalent and more extensively substituted than I would have expected. As I remain “stranded in Madeira” and my PC farm is switched off I’m unlkely to do any serious calculations on it or some easier to make analogues.
